Fiberpartner Inks Deal For Bio Alternative To Polyester Fibres

Denmark based Fiberpartner has inked an exclusive deal with Pond Global, also from Denmark for the development, production and marketing of bio-based plastics for staple fibres.

The development of these bio-based fibres has been going on since 2017, but is now available for commercial use.

Fiberpartner aims to offer a bio-based alternative to traditional polyester fibres and during the second half of 2023 will introduce a diverse range of fibers, including solid and bio-component fibres, which can be seamlessly bonded to natural fibres.

The products possess the same qualities as conventional polyester fibres, including softness, touch, elongation and tenacity, while making a significant contribution to reducing CO2 footprint. They are not only biodegradable but also home compostable, allowing for a circular textile economy.

The feedstocks for these new fibres include non-food grade corn and sugarcane, with development of other feedstocks under trail.
