Five Major Textile Parks Approved Across Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh government has cleared the way for the development of five major textile and apparel parks across the state, with land transfer approvals granted by the state cabinet.
The proposed parks will be developed in Varanasi, Amroha, Bareilly, Sant Kabir Nagar and Bijnor, covering a total area of over 326 acres. The projects will be implemented under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, aimed at attracting investment and generating large-scale employment in the textile sector.
The government has also issued a notification to set up an authority responsible for implementing the projects.
For the Varanasi Ramna Textile Park, the Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA) has submitted a pre-feasibility report. Revised reports for the remaining four parks are currently being prepared and will be finalised after incorporating industry feedback.
Infrastructure development has already begun in Varanasi, where work on the approach road is progressing. The tendering process has been completed and contract formalities are underway. In parallel, a detailed power infrastructure plan has been prepared, including a 132 KV substation, transmission lines, and 33 KV distribution systems to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply.
The state is also prioritising environmental compliance, with clearance processes related to groundwater use and forest permissions currently in progress. PPP-based tender documents are being prepared to select master developers for the remaining parks.
According to the government, the Sant Kabir Textile & Apparel Park is expected to strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s position in textiles, apparel manufacturing, technical textiles and exports. Sant Kabir Nagar’s Khalilabad region, home to the historic Bardahia Bazar, is already a major handloom and textile trading hub serving wholesalers and retailers across eastern Uttar Pradesh.
