Freudenberg Adopts ZDHC’s 4s CHEM Protocol At Sant’Omero Site
Freudenberg Performance Materials Apparel Europe (Freudenberg) marks another stride towards sustainability with the successful completion of the 4sustainability Chemical Management protocol (4s CHEM) at its new Freudenberg Apparel Competence Centre in Sant’Omero, Italy. Attaining the Advanced Level, this accomplishment underscores Freudenberg’s commitment to eliminating toxic and hazardous chemicals from its production processes, prioritizing environmental and human safety.
Dedicated to sustainability, the Sant’Omero site serves as an innovative competence centre for interlinings, catering to apparel customers across Europe. Building on this dedication, Freudenberg has implemented ZDHC guidelines in its production process, with the assistance of sustainability consultancy Process Factory. This integration aligns with the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme, ensuring structured procedures, transparency and continuous monitoring.
The ZDHC Foundation’s Roadmap to Zero Programme aims to eradicate the discharge of hazardous chemicals in the textile and fashion industry supply chain, adhering to the ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (ZDHC MRSL). By adopting the 4s CHEM protocol, Freudenberg’s Sant’Omero site reaffirms its commitment to producing high-quality, environmentally-friendly products.
Christian Cavaletti, Director of Operations – Apparel, Europe, says, “The 4s CHEM implementation proves once again that we not only stand for premium quality, but also for products that meet the highest sustainability standards. In addition, it shows that we are serious about our responsibility for people and the environment. Freudenberg’s achievement sets a benchmark for sustainability in the textile industry, signaling its unwavering commitment to environmentally conscious practices.”
