Ha-Meem Signs Major 16.9 MWp Solar Project To Cut Industry Emissions

Bangladesh has taken a significant step forward in advancing its industrial sustainability efforts with the signing of a 16.9 MWp rooftop solar power project under a CapEx model with Ha-Meem Group, one of the country’s largest textile and apparel manufacturers. The project will be implemented across the Group’s Textile Zone, including Ha-Meem Denim Ltd., Ha-Meem Spinning Ltd., and Ha-Meem Textile Ltd.
Solaric Group will serve as the turnkey EPC partner for the project, while financing support is being provided by the Infrastructure Development Company Ltd (IDCOL). The initiative is expected to strengthen Bangladesh’s transition toward clean energy infrastructure and support the decarbonization of textile manufacturing, one of the country’s highest energy-consuming industries.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior executives from all three organizations. From Ha-Meem Group, attendees included Managing Director Abdul Kader Azad, CEO (Textile Business) Amin, CFO Habibur Rahman and Power & Energy leaders Tanul Chakraborty and Ashis Basak. Representing IDCOL were CEO Alamgir Morshed, Head of Renewable Energy Enamul Karim Pavel, and AVP Ashaduzzaman.
Technical feasibility studies were conducted by Engr. Naznin A. and Antar Anwar, supported by the design and optimization team, demonstrating robust planning and strong implementation potential.
Project Impact
- 40% of the energy required for Ha-Meem’s denim and spinning operations will be sourced from solar power
- Energy costs are projected to decrease by up to 70%
- The project will become one of the largest rooftop solar installations in Bangladesh’s denim and spinning sector
“By integrating clean power at scale, we are not only reducing emissions, we are driving long-term competitiveness and resilience for Bangladesh’s textile industry,” Solaric Group said in a statement.
