India Textile Exports Rise 2.1% In FY26

India’s textile exports, including handicrafts, registered a modest growth of 2.1 per cent in FY 2025–26, reaching Rs 3,16,334.9 crore, up from Rs 3,09,859.3 crore in the previous financial year, according to data released by the Ministry of Textiles. The performance reflects steady global demand and the sector’s continued competitiveness across key product segments.

Ready-made garments (RMG) remained the largest contributor to overall exports, growing by 2.9 per cent to Rs 1,39,349.6 crore from Rs 1,35,427.6 crore in FY 2024–25. Meanwhile, cotton yarn, fabrics, made-ups, and handloom products posted marginal growth of 0.4 per cent, rising to Rs 1,02,399.7 crore from Rs 1,02,002.8 crore.

Man-made yarn, fabrics, and made-ups showed relatively stronger momentum, increasing by 3.6 per cent to Rs 42,687.8 crore. Among value-added segments, handicrafts (excluding handmade carpets) emerged as the fastest-growing category, expanding 6.1 per cent to Rs 15,855.1 crore.

The data also indicates a broad-based expansion in export markets, with growth recorded in over 120 destinations between April 2025 and February 2026. Key markets that registered notable increases include the United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Japan, Egypt, Nigeria, Senegal, and Sudan.

Government support measures have played a significant role in sustaining export momentum. These include the extension of schemes such as the Rebate of State and Central Taxes and Levies (RoSCTL) and the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) beyond March 31, 2026.

Additionally, progress on multiple Free Trade Agreements (FTAs)—including those with EFTA, the United Kingdom, Oman, and New Zealand, along with the conclusion of the India–EU FTA—is expected to improve market access and strengthen India’s integration into global textile value chains.

Overall, the steady export growth underscores the combined impact of policy support, diversified market reach, and increasing demand for value-added textile products.
