INDIAsize Initiative To Be Released At Bharat Tex 2025

The much-awaited INDIAsize initiative, aimed at establishing standardized body measurements suited to Indian physiques, will be released at Bharat Tex 2025 later this month, Textiles Secretary Neelam Shami Rao announced on Tuesday. A set of anthropometric data will be made public, allowing industry stakeholders to provide feedback before finalizing standardized measurements for retail apparel.

Currently, international and domestic brands in India rely on US and UK size charts, which often do not align with Indian body proportions, leading to fit issues. To address this, the Ministry of Textiles sanctioned the INDIAsize project to develop standardized sizes tailored to Indian consumers.

“INDIAsize is a scientific study. A Masterclass and multiple industry sessions will be conducted to discuss the findings. The initial anthropometric data will be released in the public domain for industry feedback, allowing necessary refinements before adoption,” the Textiles Secretary stated.

The announcement was made during the unveiling of the Bharat Tex 2025 app and website. Scheduled from February 14-17, Bharat Tex 2025 is set to be a mega textile exhibition, featuring over 5,000 exhibitors, 6,000 international buyers from 120 countries, and more than 1,20,000 visitors.
