Indorama Ventures Recycles 150 Billion PET Bottles, Advances Global Circular Economy Goals

Indorama Ventures Public Company Ltd, a global sustainable chemical company, has announced it has recycled over 150 billion post-consumer PET bottles since 2011, a major milestone in its drive toward a circular economy.
Operating more than 20 recycling facilities across 11 countries, the company now recycles the equivalent of 789 bottles every second, converting used PET into high-quality recycled PET (rPET) resins and other circular materials for industries worldwide.
Indorama Ventures reached its first milestone of 50 billion bottles in March 2020, doubled it to 100 billion by 2023, and has now added another 50 billion in under two years, reflecting both rising global demand for recycled content and the company’s sustained investment in infrastructure, partnerships, and innovation.
“Recycling 150 billion PET bottles is more than a milestone, it reflects the power of people, purpose and technology driving scalable, sustainable impact,” said Yash Lohia, Executive President of Petchem and Chairman of the ESG Council. “We’re proud of how far we’ve come and are committed to going further.”
The company estimates this achievement has prevented 3.8 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions and diverted 2.8 million tonnes of plastic waste from landfills and the environment.
Indorama Ventures’ approach to circularity is anchored in three pillars: education, collection and innovation. Through its Waste Hero programme, it has already educated nearly 1 million people worldwide on recycling practices, well ahead of its 2030 target. The company also partners with global collection networks to secure a steady supply of post-consumer PET and works with leading technology providers to deploy advanced recycling solutions.
