Khandoker Rafiqul Islam Appointed New President Of BGMEA
The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has appointed Khandoker Rafiqul Islam as its new President following the resignation of S. M. Mannan (Kochi). Mannan stepped down due to his need for long-term medical treatment.
An emergency meeting was held on August 24 at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in Dhaka, where the BGMEA Board of Directors accepted Mannan’s resignation and unanimously elected Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, the former Senior Vice President, as the new President.
In the same meeting, Abdullah Hil Rakib was promoted from Vice President to Senior Vice President, and Asif Ashraf from Director to Vice President.
The newly appointed BGMEA Board under President Khandoker Rafiqul Islam includes:
- First Vice President: Syed Nazrul Islam
- Senior Vice President: Abdullah Hil Rakib
- Vice President: Arshad Jamal (Dipu)
- Vice President (Finance): Md. Nasir Uddin
- Vice Presidents: Miran Ali, Asif Ashraf, Rakibul Alam Chowdhury
