LYCRA Presents Sustainability Innovations At Dornbirn GFC

The LYCRA Company, a global leader in fibre and technology solutions, will make presentations at the Dornbirn Global Fiber Congress (GFC) from September 11-13 in Dornbirn, Austria. The presentations will highlight key initiatives from The LYCRA Company’s Planet Agenda platform and 2030 Sustainability Goals.

Jean Hegedus, Director of Sustainable Business Development at The LYCRA Company, will make presentation on “From Farm to Fibre: Developing Elastane with 70% Bio-Derived Content.” She will be joined by Andrea Vanderhoff, Director of Technology and Sustainability for Qore, the makers of QIRA, a next-generation 1,4-butanediol made from renewable corn. This presentation will discuss the path to commercializing bio-derived LYCRA fibre made with QIRA, which is expected to reduce the fibre’s carbon footprint by up to 44% while maintaining equivalent performance.

Additionally, Alberto Ceria, Senior Applications Development Professional, and David Godshall, Senior R&D Scientist at The LYCRA Company, will make presentation on “Pre- and Post-Consumer Recycling of LYCRA Fiber.” This session will address the challenge of elastane in textile recycling and showcase the company’s development of recycling technologies that transform end-of-life stretch fabrics into recycled elastane.

“The LYCRA Company is committed to developing circular solutions that tackle recycling challenges and reduce environmental impact,” said Ceria.
