Mayer & Cie. Launches Control 5.0, Making Circular Knitting Machines IoT-Ready

Mayer & Cie. has officially launched its new machine control system, Control 5.0, designed to make its circular knitting machines Internet- and knitlink-ready, marking a significant step toward the digital future of textile production. Control 5.0 serves as the gateway to Mayer & Cie.’s cloud-based digital platform, Knitlink, and is available as a retrofit upgrade for all machines manufactured from 2001 onward. Moving forward, every new mechanical circular knitting machine will come equipped with Control 5.0 as standard.
“Control 5.0 marks a milestone in the evolution of circular knitting for the digital age,” said Benjamin Mayer, Managing Director of Mayer & Cie. “It enables our customers to transition smoothly into the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), making machines smarter and more efficient over time.”
The new system offers seamless connectivity to Knitlink, which currently features three apps: my.monitoring for real-time machine data, my.service for remote support, and my.shop for spare parts management. Notably, updates will now be delivered over the air, eliminating the need for USB sticks.
Control 5.0 includes two interface options: SmartControl, featuring up to four smart knobs and mobile device integration for role-based access, and ClassicControl, a centralized touchscreen interface similar to previous models.
Mayer & Cie. also provides a detailed checklist to help customers identify specific retrofit requirements for older machines. This upgrade ensures that a wide range of existing equipment can benefit from digital connectivity and the advantages of the Knitlink platform.
