Meeting Called For Setting Up Mini Textile Park In Thanjavur
The Collector of Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu has invited entrepreneurs from the textile and garment industry to a meeting scheduled for November 17 on setting up mini textile parks.
The units set up in backward blocks are eligible for capital subsidy and the scheme envisages setting up mini textile parks on about two acres of land with a minimum of three textile industrial units.
“50 percent of the project cost or ₹2.50 crore, whichever is less, will be provided as a grant by the state government in the backward blocks,” a press release from the Collector of Thanjavur stated.
Tamil Nadu has made a few amendments in the scheme through which societies, trade bodies and also a group of entrepreneurs can set up a special purpose vehicle for setting up mini textile parks.
The press release added that setting up of common infrastructure facilities like roads, streetlights, compound walls, drainage, water and electric supply, captive power plant and ETP’s can be included in the project cost.
“The scheme is suitable for weaving, fabric processing units and garment manufacturing, but not spinning mills, since these units need more space and investment,” the press release informed.
