No Allocation For Kakatiya Mega Textile Park In Telangana Budget

In the budget presented for 2024-25, the Telangana government did not announce any allocation for the massive Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP) in the state.

Touted as a fibre-to-fabric facility, the foundation stone of KMTP was laid seven years back, but is still to be operational and was supposed to provide employment to 60,000 people.

However, an assurance was given to develop it under the Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM-MITRA) project under which it will receive Rs 200 crore.

It was earlier announced that Youngone Corporation of South Korea and Kerala based Kitex Group will invest Rs 1,000 crore each in KMTP, but the investment is yet to materialise.

“KMTP was supplied to fill the void left by the closure of Azam Jahi Mills that once provided direct and indirect employment to more than 10,000 people,” Hans India reported.
