Northeast India’s First NABL-Accredited Textile Lab Launched By NEHHDC

The North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation (NEHHDC), under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, has launched its first NABL-accredited textile testing laboratory in Northeast India. This state-of-the-art facility, located at NEHHDC’s head office in Garchuk, Guwahati, marks a new chapter in the region’s textile industry, setting a precedent for quality assurance and rigorous testing standards.

In a statement shared on X, the North East Council expressed pride in the achievement, noting that the accreditation would elevate the standards of textiles from the Northeast in both Indian and global markets. “This accreditation will raise the bar for textiles in Indian and global markets, unlocking endless possibilities for the region,” the Council stated.

The newly accredited laboratory is set to play a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality of textile products originating from the Northeast region. Prior to this development, local weavers and producers were compelled to send their products to Kolkata for testing, a process that was both time-consuming and costly.

With the establishment of this innovative facility in Guwahati, local weavers and manufacturers now have direct access to high-quality testing services within the region.
