Odisha CM Lays Foundation Stone For Rs 3,000cr Welspun Plant

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday laid the foundation stone for the Rs 3,000-crore Welspun Group’s Integrated Textiles Manufacturing Facility and Warehousing Complex.

The facility coming up in Choudwar in Cuttack district is expected to create 10,000 employment opportunities and will also create business opportunities for local industries.

A team of government officials had approached Welspun Group Chairman BK Goenka during the 2022 Make-in-Odisha programme, who agreed to the proposal because of a favourable industrial environment.

Speaking on the occasion, Naveen Patnaik said that cotton farmers of districts like Kalahandi, Balangir, Rayagada and Gajapati will also benefit from this industry.

He added that new employment opportunities will be created for women and their skills will be developed so that they are skills ready, when the facility becomes operational.
