Bangladesh Has 54 Out Of 100 Global LEED Garment Factories

Out of the 100 LEED certified garment factories in the world, 54 are now located in Bangladesh, which points to a commitment to green practices in the industry in the south Asian country.

“The total number of Bangladesh clothing factories with LEED certificate now totals 206, which indicates the industry commitment towards greener initiatives,” Mohiuddin Rubel , BGMEA Director said.

According to BGMEA statistics, out of these 206 factories, 76 were awarded the platinum rating, while 116 bagged a gold rating.

Additionally, Bangladesh’s apparel industry took a significant step in sustainable fashion, with 24 of its garment factories achieving LEED certification in 2023.

Out of these 24 LEED-certified factories, 16 achieved platinum rating, which is the highest and 8 bagged a gold rating.

Presently over 500 Bangladeshi clothing factories are in the process of obtaining LEED certification.
