Piyush Goyal Mulls ‘Invest India Desk’ In Textile Ministry

Indian Textiles Minister Mr Piyush Goyal spoke about setting up a dedicated ‘Invest India Desk’ in the Textiles Ministry to assist and handhold investors, looking to set up or expand their manufacturing base to meet increasing global demand for textiles.

Mr Goyal was speaking while chairing an industry interaction on ‘Investment Opportunities in the Textiles Industry’ under PM MITRA Scheme and also commended the industry for their enthusiasm to set up and expand businesses in the upcoming PM MITRA Parks.

He also praised initiatives taken by the seven state governments like Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh, in providing a good ecosystem to the textile industry.

The minister also encouraged textile industry to take benefit from the attractive schemes of the Textile Minister which also includes the National Technical Textiles Mission and Scheme for Capacity Building in Textile Sector (Samarth).

Mr Goyal also met senior leadership of more than 80 textile companies and also representatives of infrastructure developers, banks, and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) on the sidelines.

He also stressed on the need for phase-by-phase development of the Parks in order to efficiently utilise resources and for better integration of the value chain.
