Sewing & Embroidery Thread Maker Amann Starts India Plant

Amann has opened its first Indian production plant in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu which will produce sewing and embroidery threads of the highest quality for the leather and apparel industry.

“It is our most sustainable production site equipped with state-of-the-art technology to protect the environment,” the German headquartered company said in a press release.

“We are very proud to put this plant into operation today. We are now able to offer our customers delivery options and short lead times throughout Asia,” Peter Morgalla, Chairman of Amann India said.

“Moreover, we will also provide technical advisory services for our customers to exploit the full potential of our products,” he added.

The production plant spans 32,000 square metres and will provide employment to 200 employees.

The company has invested in a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZDL) unit in which all extracted water remains in a closed cycle system and only 9 percent of fresh water has to be replenished due to evaporation.

Energy demand is mostly covered by a comprehensive photovoltaic system, while additional demand is supplied by a nearby wind and solar park.

The boiler for steam production, which is an important requirement for the dyeing process of the threads, operates with biomass.

“Success is always the result of a trustful collaboration. Our global brands and Indian customers are the key to our success,” Sanjeev Grewal, Managing Director at Amann added.

“We are very grateful for our long-term business relationships which form the foundation for our role in the Indian sewing thread industry as a quality and innovation leader,” he stated.

Amann has been represented in India since 2007 with sales offices in Chennai, Bangalore and Gurgaon.
