ShinWon Corporation Secures SBTi Approval For Net-Zero Emissions Target

ShinWon Corporation, a leading global apparel manufacturer, has received approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its net-zero emissions target, reaffirming its commitment to sustainability under the leadership of CEO J.J. Park.
The SBTi, a coalition formed in 2015 by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), UN Global Compact (UNGC), World Resources Institute (WRI), and World Wildlife Fund (WWF), supports companies in setting science-based greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets. ShinWon’s approval aligns it with over 1,700 global participants working toward accelerated climate action.
The approval validates ShinWon’s goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 through comprehensive commitments across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. By 2030, the company plans to reduce direct (Scope 1) and indirect (Scope 2) emissions by 42% from 2022 levels. Emissions across its value chain (Scope 3) will also see a 42% reduction within the same timeframe. By 2050, ShinWon aims to completely eliminate Scope 1 and 2 emissions and reduce Scope 3 emissions by 90%, achieving net-zero across all operations.
ShinWon is expediting its transition to renewable energy at its international facilities. Solar power systems now contribute to over 40% of on-site energy at production sites in Indonesia, Guatemala and Nicaragua. Additionally, the company is purchasing Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) to cover 100% of externally sourced electricity in Vietnam and Indonesia, with plans to expand to other regions. To address Scope 3 emissions, ShinWon is adopting sustainable procurement standards and increasing the use of eco-friendly materials.
“We are advancing initiatives like solar energy generation, EV charging station installation and energy efficiency improvements to achieve net-zero,” said CEO J.J. Park. “By integrating these efforts into our long-term ESG goals, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainable management and proactive climate action for a better future.”
ShinWon’s sustainability efforts extend to solar energy expansion, wastewater recycling systems, and collaborations with customers to develop recycled fabrics. These initiatives not only align with its net-zero goals but also position the company as a trusted partner for environmentally conscious brands seeking sustainable manufacturing solutions.
