SIMA Hails Exempting BIS Compliance For VSF Imports Under AAS

The Southern India Mills’ Association (SIMA) welcomed the Indian government’s decision in exempting BIS compliance for VSF imports under the Advance Authorisation Scheme (AAS).

In a press release, SIMA Chairman Dr SK Sundararaman appreciated Minister of Textiles Piyush Goyal for permitting the import of BIS QCO mandated VSF under AAS.

In addition, Dr SK Sundararaman thanked the Textile Minister for also allowing VSF imports by EOU’s as well as SEZ units, so as to enable them to meet the requirements of overseas buyers.

SIMA Chairman further appreciated the efforts of the Minister for understanding the industry-oriented difficulties of both the producers and the users of VSF.

“This decision has taken a balanced view and suitably modified the applicability of BIS provisions for imports under AAS, creating win-win strategy for both VSF producers and the users.

The SIMA chief added that a similar QCO notification for polyester fibre and its raw material products is essential to enable the growth of the synthetic fibre sector.
