Surat Jari Producers Welcome GST Rate Reduction

Jari yarn manufacturers of Surat, which is the biggest manufacturing hub for Jari production, have welcomed the decision of the GST Council to reduce GST rate from 12 percent to 5 percent on Jari yarn.

Since the introduction of GST in 2017, the Surat Jari Manufacturers Association has been demanding reduction in the GST rate, which they said was very high and was eating into their profits.

The association had approached Textile Minister of State, Darshana Jardosh several times for the same. Over the years, Jardosh too put up the demand to various finance ministers to reduce the rate.

“We are very happy that the government has now accepted our demand, as our profits had reduced due to the 12 percent GST on Jari Yarn,” Navin Jariwala, President, Surat Jari Manufacturers Association said.
