Syre Partners With Gap, Houdini & Target To Scale Circular Polyester

Textile impact company Syre has announced strategic partnerships with Gap Inc., Houdini Sportswear, and Target to accelerate the adoption of circular polyester through textile-to-textile recycling.

Launched in March 2024, Syre aims to decarbonize the textile industry by producing circular polyester with up to 85% lower CO₂ emissions than virgin polyester. Its first large-scale recycling plant in North Carolina is set to be operational by 2026, with a capacity of 10,000 metric tonnes annually.

Gap Inc. has committed to sourcing the full output of this facility, integrating Syre’s recycled polyester across its portfolio. Houdini will use Syre fibres for 50% of its polyester needs over the next three years as it works toward a waste-free business model by 2030. Target will begin incorporating Syre’s circular polyester into select owned-brand products, aligning with its 2040 circularity goals.
