Techtextil India 2025 Reinforces India’s Growing Stature As Global Destination For Textiles

The 10th edition of Techtextil India 2025 concluded on a high note at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, firmly reinforcing India’s growing stature as a global destination for value-added and technical textiles. The three-day trade fair attracted a robust turnout of 9,144 visitors from 235 Indian cities and 45 countries, with particularly strong participation from Western India.

The show featured 216 exhibitors representing over 300 brands, showcasing advanced solutions across 12 key application areas. From high-performance fibres and functional fabrics to nonwovens, coatings, testing equipment and process automation, the exhibition floor remained abuzz throughout the event, reflecting the sector’s rapid evolution toward engineered, high-value textiles.

Positioned as a vital knowledge, sourcing and networking platform, Techtextil India 2025 drew decision-makers from diverse end-use sectors, including mobility, healthcare, construction, filtration, protection and sportswear. Strong backing from leading industry associations and state textile departments further strengthened the show’s role in catalysing investments, partnerships and policy dialogue within India’s technical textiles ecosystem.

Gracing the event as Guest of Honour, R. Lalitha, IAS, Director of Textiles, Directorate of Textiles, Government of Tamil Nadu, remarked, “Techtextil India 2025 weaves together innovators, policymakers and companies to frame appropriate policies for this fast-growing industry. Man-made fibres are the sunrise sector of the future and sustainability and circularity will drive better technologies and faster research and development in India.”

Reflecting the government’s sustainability push, conference sessions and special features at the show focused sharply on circular supply chains, advanced recycling technologies, bio-based materials and resource-efficient manufacturing. These discussions aligned closely with India’s ambition to enhance textile and apparel exports through environmentally responsible, high-value products.

For fibre and material innovators, the platform delivered meaningful business engagement. Shyamlal Patnaik, Joint President – Global Head, Speciality Business, Birla Cellulose, said, “Techtextil India is a great platform to interact with customers, understand their requirements and connect globally while strengthening our domestic presence. It allows us to showcase new products before genuine buyers.”

Major announcements also marked the show. On the opening day, Brawntex Industries Pvt. Ltd. announced a strategic partnership with Japan-based Kurabo Industries Ltd., known for its fire-retardant fabrics. Nitesh Mittal, Founder & CEO, Brawntex Industries, shared, “We will represent Kurabo in India for military and industrial workwear applications such as oil & gas and iron & steel. Having participated in seven editions, we can say this year’s show has been incredible, with focused footfall and excellent business interactions.”

From the Germany pavilion, Umashankar Mahapatra, Managing Director, Pulcra Chemicals, showcased sustainable textile processing chemicals and speciality additives. He noted strong interest from traditional textile hubs like Surat exploring technical textiles, adding that the show “connects the dots” by bringing together fibres, machinery and speciality chemicals under one roof.

Product launches spanned firefighter protective fabrics, crop covers, vehicle interiors, airbags, parachutes, industrial workwear and defence textiles, alongside innovations in knitting technologies and application-specific solutions. The emphasis on sports and activewear textiles stood out, with a dedicated Sport-Tech Pavilion, curated in collaboration with Concepts N Strategies, hosting three high-impact panel discussions that drew global buyers and performance-textile innovators.

Knowledge sessions powered by the Indian Technical Textile Association (ITTA) highlighted applications in crop protection, coastal protection wear and the integration of natural fibres with smart materials. Meanwhile, a conference organised with the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) delved into circular supply chains, covering PET-to-yarn pathways, AI-based waste sorting, recycling technologies, automation and traceability.

Sustainability emerged as a strong, unifying theme across the exhibition. From textiles made using post-consumer waste to upcycled yarns, fabrics and lifestyle products, the show demonstrated how innovation and circularity are reshaping the industry. Samidha Mayee, Manager – Brand Marketing & Sales Planning, Archroma, observed, “Techtextil India is an all-inclusive and comprehensive exhibition. It was encouraging to see everything from fibres and yarns to manufacturing, processing and polyester recycling.”

Visitors echoed similar sentiments. Ashish Arya, Sales and Marketing Leader – Medtech, Thermaissance, said the event offered deep insights into processing, recycling and rapid product development, along with strong ambience and footfall.

With its blend of technology, sustainability, business networking and policy engagement, Techtextil India 2025 successfully delivered on its promise as a future-focused marketplace. The next edition is set to build on this momentum, continuing to connect stakeholders across the entire technical textiles value chain.
