Textile Exports Fall 2.07% In June 2025; Apparel Up 1.23%

India’s textile exports declined by 2.07% in June 2025, compared to the same month last year, amid ongoing global market uncertainties. For the April–June 2025 period, textile exports saw a marginal dip of 0.94% year-on-year.

In contrast, apparel exports rose by 1.23% in June, and registered an 8.91% growth in the first quarter of FY26, reflecting stronger performance in the garments segment. However, the combined export of yarn and apparel in June 2025 was 0.61% lower than June 2024.

Industry officials attributed the decline in textile exports to continued international market uncertainties, including unclear U.S. tariff policies on Indian products. Additionally, cotton yarn shipments to China fell, with the country revising its sourcing strategy.

Adding to the challenge, Bangladesh’s ban on yarn imports from India via land ports further impacted export volumes. Despite this, exporters are optimistic, citing strong order books for home textiles, which could lead to a rebound in yarn demand in the coming months.
