Textile Ministry And ICRIER Partner On Policy Research

India’s Ministry of Textiles (MoT) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Council for Research (ICRIER) on International Economic Relations to strengthen policy research and data-driven decision-making for the country’s textile and apparel sector.
The partnership aims to support the formulation of evidence-based policies by enhancing textile-related data systems and providing analytical research inputs to the government. The collaboration is expected to help improve competitiveness, exports and employment generation across India’s textile and apparel industry, one of the country’s largest manufacturing sectors.
Under the agreement, ICRIER will leverage its research and technical expertise to assist the Ministry of Textiles in developing deeper industry insights and policy frameworks aligned with the sector’s long-term growth objectives.
The MoU was signed by Akhilesh Kumar, Deputy Director General at the Ministry of Textiles, and Shekhar Aiyar, Director and Chief Executive of ICRIER.
