‘The Demand For Blended Fabrics Was Clearly Dominant At Bharat Tex’

Sanket Sunilkumar Bangad, Director, Bangad Group, on the quality of buyers at Bharat Tex 2026, the growing interest in blended fabrics and expectations of a stronger second half.

For Bangad Group, Bharat Tex 2026 delivered a highly encouraging experience, with strong participation from domestic buyers and a notably high quality of business visitors.

“It was wonderful. We had a lot of buyers, mostly from India, particularly domestic buyers, and the overall experience was great,” says Sanket Sunilkumar Bangad, Director of Bangad Group.

The location of the company’s booth also contributed to the quality of visitor engagement. Positioned on the first floor, Bangad believes the footfall was more targeted, with a greater proportion of serious buyers visiting the exhibition.

“This time, as we were on the first floor, the audience that came was a bit more filtered. Only serious buyers were there,” he says.

For Bangad, the quality of the visitors was as important as the volume.

“The footfall was amazing. It was more than expected,” he adds.

Blends emerge as the dominant trend
One of the strongest trends witnessed at the exhibition was the growing interest in blended fabrics.

According to Bangad, enquiries for blends clearly outnumbered those for conventional cotton or polyester fabrics.

“The more dominant products were blended fabrics linen blends, bamboo blends and lyocell blends,” he says.

“This time, I had the most enquiries for blends. Other than cotton or polyester, blends were clearly dominant,” he adds.

A challenging first half
The first half of the year, however, has been challenging for the textile industry, with market conditions experiencing considerable volatility.

“The market in the first half of this year was kind of slow and had a lot of ups and downs,” Bangad says.

Fluctuations in yarn prices, combined with the impact of ongoing geopolitical conflicts, have created uncertainty for businesses across the textile value chain.

However, Bangad expects market conditions to improve during the remainder of the year.

“According to our projections, the remaining part of the year, will be better compared to the last few months,” he says.

With the growing interest in blended fabrics and expectations of improved market conditions, Bangad Group sees the second half of the year as a period of renewed opportunity for the textile industry.
