TN Textile Mill Workers Demand Rs 26,000 Monthly Wage
The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), a workers trade union has demanded a monthly wage of Rs 26,000 per month for textile mill workers in Tamil Nadu.
AITUC‘s Erode district president S. Chinnasamy in a letter cited rising cost of commodities like food, transportation, electricity, clothing and other costs for demanding the wage hike.
A committee to look into these demands has been formed which is made up of five government officials and six representatives each of the trade unions and textile mills, respectively.
In the letter, Chinnasamy alleged that the minimum wages fixed by the government, were not paid to the workers and were also denied other privileges and rights.
