Toray Industries Goes Live With Centric PLM To Boost Cost Management

Toray Industries (H.K.) Ltd., part of global advanced materials company Toray Industries, Inc., has successfully gone live with Centric PLM to strengthen product development efficiency, cost management and development oversight.

Centric Software, which provides AI-powered enterprise solutions for product development and commercialization, said the implementation was completed as planned through a phased approach, primarily across Toray’s Hong Kong operations, a key hub for production management.

Founded in 1926 and headquartered in Japan, Toray Industries operates across a broad range of advanced materials and technologies, including textiles, resins, chemicals, films, carbon fibre composites, electronic materials, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and water treatment solutions. Through a global network of more than 300 group companies, the company serves customers across industries including fashion and apparel.

As market needs and customer requirements became increasingly diverse and complex, Toray Industries identified the need to streamline information management across its production and development activities. The company implemented Centric PLM to improve visibility, coordination and information sharing across cross-functional teams.

The project was implemented using Centric Software’s phased methodology and remained on schedule, within scope and within budget. Kotaro Kishi, Division Manager, Transformation Hub at Toray Industries (H.K.) Ltd., said the project required extensive coordination given the number of stakeholders involved. He credited the expertise of the Centric Software team and strong alignment among project teams for helping the company achieve a timely go-live.

Toray Industries and Centric Software also focused on cross-functional alignment, clear ownership and practical user engagement to support early adoption and ensure a smooth transition to the new system.

With Centric PLM now fully deployed, Toray Industries has established a centralised foundation for managing development specifications and cost information. The company expects the platform to support improved profitability, more precise cost management and stronger oversight of product development.

Fabrice Canonge, CEO of Centric Software, said the company was pleased to partner with Toray Industries as it advances its digital transformation and seeks to respond more quickly to changing customer requirements.
