Trützschler Completes First Installations Of TC 30i And IDF 3, Achieves Strong Results

The initial installations of the Trützschler Card TC 30i and the Trützschler Integrated Draw Frame IDF 3 have been successfully completed, with the first customers concluding rigorous testing in direct spinning applications. The IDF 3 is demonstrating strong results under real-world conditions, with customers praising its easy handling and high-speed spinning capabilities.

Marchi & Fildi, an Italian company headquartered in Biella, was among the first to test the new IDF 3. Specializing in producing pure and blended yarns from natural or man-made fibres for flat knitting, circular knitting and weaving, Marchi & Fildi’s products are used worldwide in fashion, furnishings and technical applications. The company also focuses on reducing its environmental impact, pioneering innovative and sustainable yarns made from recycled materials.

Guido Marchetto, Production Supervisor at Marchi & Fildi, expressed enthusiasm about the new IDF 3: “We are very pleased with the new IDF 3. It increases our efficiency and provides higher yarn quality. The ease of operation simplifies the production process. We look forward to the benefits that the IDF 3 will bring to our business in the future.”

Guido Marchetto, Production Supervisor at Marchi & Fildi, is very pleased with the new IDF 3.

Marchi & Fildi’s initial trials involved different fibre blends, including a blend of 70% soft waste cotton and 30% polyester for rotor direct spinning, with a yarn count range of Ne 8 to Ne 12 and Ne 30. Later tests used a blend of 50% PET and 50% recycled cotton from hard textile waste for rotor direct spinning with a yarn count of Ne 30. Processing secondary fibres from hard textile waste requires high competence in yarn production and advanced technologies. Trützschler’s IDF technology, with its special drafting zone geometry, ensures reliable fibre guidance and controls floating fibres, generating lower drafts than conventional draw frame passage and avoiding false drafts and count variations.

Decades of experience with IDF technology have shown that higher short fibre content yields better results with IDF compared to conventional two draw frame passages. Combined with the TC 30Ri, a variant of TC 30i configured for processing recycled fibres, the IDF 3 delivers maximum quality for sustainable yarn production.

Marchi & Fildi reported that the combination of the TC 30Ri and IDF 3 exceeded expectations by optimizing process parameters. The TC 30Ri delivers material at a higher speed, and the IDF 3 maintains this speed to produce very good sliver evenness, even during can changes. This results in superior yarn parameters that exceed mill standards. The company’s results showed a 75% increase in productivity over the previous card model and a 14% reduction in energy consumption at higher production rates. Combining the TC 30Ri and IDF 3 also allowed Marchi & Fildi to skip the drawing stage, boosting quality while saving resources and cutting costs.

“We have collaborated with Trützschler for many years because its machines offer excellent performance for processing recycled yarns,” says Guido Marchetto. “The machines are easy to set up and adapt for our specific needs. And we can always rely on the effective service support from Trützschler too.”

In conclusion, Trützschler’s IDF technology is gaining popularity worldwide, significantly shortening the spinning preparation process without compromising on quality. It improves quality levels when processing raw materials with a high short fibre content and enables shortened processes that save resources, energy and production space. Together, the TC 30i and the IDF 3 help customers reach the full potential of the direct spinning process.
