Turkish Firm Bonny Socks Plans US$ 70 Million Textile Factory In Egypt

Egypt is set to strengthen its textile manufacturing base as Turkish sock producer Bonny Socks moves forward with plans to establish a large-scale production facility in the country.

Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib met with senior executives of Bonny Socks to review the proposed project, according to a statement from the ministry. The factory will cater to both the Egyptian market and international export destinations.

The proposed facility will be developed on a 75,000-square-metre site dedicated to sock manufacturing, with an additional 45,000 square metres reserved for future expansion. Once operational, the plant will be equipped with between 2,000 and 3,000 knitting machines, with the capacity to scale up to 4,000 machines as demand grows.

Exports will be a key focus of the project, particularly to European markets during the initial phase. Annual export revenues are projected to reach approximately US$ 80 million. A portion of production will also serve the domestic market, supplying European brands with manufacturing operations in Egypt.

Total investment for construction, infrastructure and production equipment is estimated at US$ 70 million. The project is expected to support Egypt’s broader strategy to attract foreign investment, boost textile exports and position the country as a competitive manufacturing hub for European markets.
