UKFT Launches Reuse And Recycling Membership To Boost Circular Fashion

The UK Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT) has announced the launch of a new Reuse and Recycling membership category, aimed at supporting textile collectors, sorters, graders, mechanical recyclers, upcyclers, and recycling innovators. The new category will provide strategic guidance, tailored resources, and advocacy to promote circularity and innovation within the UK fashion and textile industry.

The initiative builds on UKFT’s ongoing work with ACT UK (Automatic-sorting for Circularity in Textiles) and the Circular Fashion Innovation Network (CFIN), which have established a strong foundation for advancing circular practices in the industry. UKFT has also partnered with the Textiles Recycling Expo to foster greater collaboration between industry players, policymakers, and sustainability advocates.

“By opening up our membership to the Reuse and Recycling sector, we are reinforcing our commitment to environmental responsibility and business growth across the UK fashion and textile supply chain,” said Adam Mansell, CEO of UKFT. “This new category is designed to equip members with the tools, knowledge, and networks needed to thrive in an evolving industry.”

Key Membership Benefits

  • The Reuse and Recycling membership offers a range of exclusive benefits, including:
  • Business Support: Personalised guidance on business strategy, sustainability, compliance, training, HR, and funding from UKFT experts.
  • Industry Insights: Access to reports, market data, and best practice guides on textile reuse and recycling.
  • Policy Influence: Representation at national and international levels, working with DEFRA, WRAP, the Environment Agency, and European policymakers.
  • Networking Opportunities: Priority access to events, roundtables, and member-only conferences to connect with industry leaders and innovators.
  • Innovation and Sustainability Projects: Opportunities to engage in initiatives like the ACT UK Demonstrator and the Circular Fashion Innovation Network.

UKFT members will have the chance to join the Reuse and Recycling Advisory Group, helping to shape future policies and industry standards for textile reuse and recycling.

“By joining the Reuse and Recycling membership, businesses can stay competitive, connected, and at the forefront of textile sustainability,” Mansell added. “This initiative will drive positive change, supporting both innovation and environmental responsibility in the UK fashion and textile industry.”
