Union Minister Of Textiles Launches NIFT’s VisioNxt Fashion Forecasting Initiative
Union Minister of Textiles, Giriraj Singh, inaugurated the ‘VisioNxt Fashion Forecasting Initiative’ by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), featuring a bilingual web portal and the India-specific Fashion Trend Book ‘Paridhi 24×25’. The event was attended by Union Minister of State for Textiles and External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, and Textiles Secretary, Rachna Shah.
Giriraj Singh highlighted that VisioNxt reflects India’s shift towards prioritizing indigenous design and manufacturing under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. The initiative, established with Ministry of Textiles support in 2018, uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Emotional Intelligence (EI) to provide real-time fashion trend insights tailored to the Indian market.
VisioNxt aims to enhance global competitiveness, elevate Indian fashion and reduce dependence on international forecasting agencies. The initiative’s DeepVision model analyzes over 100,000 apparel images to predict trends and generate insights in both Hindi and English via its web portal (www.visionxt.in). This effort positions India as a leader in fashion trend forecasting, combining AI and human intelligence for comprehensive, culturally relevant insights.
