UP Govt To Set Up 11 Textile Parks, First In Shamli District
The Uttar Pradesh government has announced plans to establish 11 private textile parks across the state, starting with a park in Shamli district, which will see an investment of Rs 726 crore. This initiative aims to reduce dependence on raw materials from other states and China.
Of the 11 proposed parks, six are planned for Gorakhpur, Mau, Bhadohi, Aligarh, Baghpat, and Shamli. As part of the Uttar Pradesh Textile and Garmenting Policy-2022, the Government Approval Committee has given in-principle approval to Lonex Textile Park for the development of the Shamli project.
The infrastructure investment for the park will total approximately Rs 126.61 crore, with an overall investment reaching Rs 600 crore. The park is expected to become operational by December next year, generating employment for around 5,000 people.
Spanning 26.75 acres in Jhinjhana village, Kairana tehsil, the park will house 17 production units, including weaving, dyeing, printing, and garmenting facilities. It will also feature essential amenities such as an administrative building, bank/ATM, training and testing center, rest house, and canteen. Environmental measures include a zero liquid discharge system, combined effluent treatment plant (CETP), and systems for water, steam, and boiler distribution.
