US Trade Pact To Power Gujarat Exports, Textiles To Lead Surge

The India US trade agreement is set to unlock strong export growth for Gujarat, with officials projecting a 100–150 percent rise in medium-term shipments across key sectors.
The steep cut in US tariffs on Indian goods from 50 percent to about 18 percent, is expected to sharply improve price competitiveness and stimulate fresh demand in the American market.
Gujarat, under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, is poised to gain across textiles, gems and jewellery, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, engineering goods and renewable energy.
Textiles are expected to see the biggest upside. Lower duties could significantly boost exports of garments and home textiles, driving higher production in the state’s major clusters and improving margins for manufacturers.
Meanwhile, chemical and pharmaceutical centres in Bharuch, Vapi and Ahmedabad are expected to recover from earlier export declines of 25–30 per cent, aided by reduced or zero-duty access for select pharma products.
The agreement is seen as a major catalyst for strengthening Gujarat’s position as a leading export powerhouse in India.
