USA Garment Imports Dip 22.81% In First Nine Months Of 2023
Worldwide US imports of clothing fell to US $60.82 billion in the first nine months of the current year, declining 22.81 percent, over the same months of earlier year.
Quantity wise when measured in square meter equivalent (SME), garment imports fell by 25.16 percent to 18.86 billion SME in the period between January and September of the current year.
Clothing imports from the largest source dropped 28.13 percent to $12.75 billion and volume wise they descended higher to 6.77 billion SME, down 23.90 percent over a year ago period.
Shipments from Vietnam also slipped to $11.06 billion, down 24.13 percent and quantity wise to 2.94 billion SME, also down 26.51 percent
US garment imports from Bangladesh too reduced 23.33 percent year on year to $5.77 billion in the reporting period and volume wise they dipped 29.37 percent to 1.76 billion SME in the reporting period.
