Uzbekistan’s Textile Exports Fall 5.3% In H12024

In the first half of 2024, Uzbekistan’s textile exports reached US$ 1.5 billion, marking a 5.3% decline compared to the same period in 2023, according to the Statistics Agency. The primary components of these exports were finished goods, which accounted for 38.1% of the total, and yarn, making up 46.2%. These products were shipped to 55 countries, reflecting the broad international market for Uzbek textiles.

The detailed breakdown of textile exports shows yarn valued at US$ 708.6 million, finished textile products at US$ 584 million, knitted fabric at US$ 114.1 million, fabrics at US$ 75.1 million, and socks at US$ 20.5 million. Despite the overall decline, Uzbekistan’s light industry remains a crucial sector, focusing on high-value-added products. This focus has been driven by reforms aimed at shifting from raw cotton to finished goods, enhancing both the economic value and global reputation of Uzbekistan’s textile sector.

Compared to the same period in 2023, January-June 2024 export values are as follows: total exports decreased from US$ 1.6 billion to US$ 1.5 billion, knitted fabric exports fell from US$ 173.9 million to US$ 144.1 million, yarn exports rose from US$ 658 million to US$ 708.6 million, fabric exports dropped from US$ 92.2 million to US$ 75.1 million, finished textile products decreased from US$ 662.6 million to US$ 584 million, and sock exports declined from US$ 31.4 million to US$ 20.5 million.
