Vardhman, NITRA Sign MoU For Next-Gen Sustainable Fibre Development

Vardhman Group has entered into a strategic partnership with the Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA) to advance research and development in milkweed fibre, a sustainable alternative to conventional textile materials.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Neeraj Jain, Joint Managing Director of Vardhman and Dr. M. S. Parmar, Director General of NITRA.
Established in 1974, NITRA is one of India’s leading textile research institutions, providing R&D, testing, consultancy and training to more than 1,200 textile and allied companies worldwide. Under Dr. Parmar’s leadership, the institute has built expertise in textile chemistry, unconventional fibres, protective textiles and quality control.
Milkweed fibre, known for being lightweight, thermally efficient, moisture-regulating, sustainable and eco-friendly, offers a renewable alternative to synthetic fills and down, while also supporting pollinator ecosystems.
This collaboration aims to combine Vardhman’s industrial leadership with NITRA’s scientific expertise, positioning both organisations at the forefront of sustainable textile innovation.
