Vastra 2026 : Where Textile Ideas Turn Into Innovation
The Department of Textile Engineering at Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) is set to stage its flagship national-level textile summit, Vastra 2026, on March 27–28, 2026, bringing together budding engineers, designers and industry leaders for two days of innovation, competition and collaboration.
Positioned as a platform that blends engineering precision with fashion creativity, Vastra 2026 aims to reflect the changing face of India’s textile sector—where sustainability, technology and entrepreneurship converge. With prizes worth Rs 1 lakh and participation expected from institutions across the country, the summit promises to be a vibrant showcase of talent and ideas.
Eight Events, One Vision
Vastra ’26 will feature eight dynamic competitions designed to mirror real-world industry challenges:
- Textile Hackathon (Ideathon): Teams will tackle pressing issues in sustainability and modern textile manufacturing through fast-paced idea generation.
- Technical Quiz: A high-energy contest testing textile fundamentals, logical reasoning and industry knowledge.
- Paper Presentation: A formal platform for presenting research on emerging technologies and future textile trends.
- Poster Presentation: Visual storytelling of innovative textile techniques and concepts.
- Think Tank – Business Pitch: An entrepreneurial forum for startup ideas in textiles and fashion retail.
- Spontaneous Sketching: A creativity-driven challenge highlighting instant design skills.
- Mystery Box Challenge: Participants identify textile materials and craft compelling marketing strategies.
- Fashion Show: The aesthetic highlight, spotlighting sustainability, handlooms and upcycled fabrics.
Guided by faculty coordinators and supported by the institute’s strong academic legacy, the summit seeks to “Elevate Fashion with Technology,” aligning with India’s ambition to scale its textile industry to new global heights by 2030.
Beyond competitions, Vastra 2026 will culminate in a Textile Alumni Meet at the VJTI Quadrangle, fostering mentorship and networking between students and distinguished alumni from Silver and Golden Jubilee batches.
