WWI Students Dazzle At Bombay Times Fashion Week

Students of Whistling Woods International’s School of Fashion & Costume Design (SFCD) captivated audiences at the Bombay Times Fashion Week on October 3 with their inventive, narrative-led creations that reimagined the boundaries of fashion design.
Semester 3 students presented conceptual collections rooted in storytelling and symbolism, while Semester 5 students explored identity, transformation, and cultural dialogue through avant-garde experimentation. From poetic homages to Mumbai’s layered spirit and rain-drenched hues to futuristic tailoring inspired by cosmic geometry, each presentation transformed fabric into philosophy and style into statement.
Highlights included a striking tribute to Mumbai’s essence, embodied through agate crystal-inspired drapes and luminous palettes and a powerful exploration of the tension between primal energy and architectural form, rendered in sculptural silhouettes and textured surfaces.
“What our students showcased tonight is not just design it’s vision,” said Meghna Ghai Puri, President, Whistling Woods International. “When young talent is nurtured with the right guidance and freedom, they create fashion that transcends boundaries.”
The show opened with actor and WWI alumna Rajshri Deshpande, who graced the runway in an ethereal tulle ensemble inspired by the student fashion film A Room of Remembering. She was joined by Sakshi, representing the Nabhangan Foundation, which promotes rural sustainability and women’s empowerment.
Actor and content creator Rehaan Roy closed the event as showstopper, donning a silk brocade jacket that fused traditional motifs with modern, sculptural tailoring.
The showcase concluded with an emotional finale featuring all student designers, models, Meghna Ghai Puri and Jewellyn Alvares, Head of Department, Fashion & Costume Design, WWI, celebrating the institution’s enduring ethos of creativity, collaboration, and excellence.
