Zara Unveils New Collection With 50% Recycled Circ Lyocell
Zara, in collaboration with Circ, a US-based fashion technology company that recycles textile waste into new fibres, has unveiled its latest Zara Women’s collection made with Circ Lyocell. This fabric, which achieves the look and feel of silk, is derived from 50% recycled textile waste.
Following the success of their first collection in April 2023, which introduced garments made from recycled polyester and lyocell, this new collection features four pieces, each crafted entirely from 100% Circ Lyocell. Designed with clean, minimalist silhouettes, these garments showcase the natural look and feel of Circ’s materials, highlighting their potential for creating elevated and timeless designs. The collection will be available on August 15 in the US and other select markets.
Circ’s innovative recycling technology addresses the challenge of breaking down polycotton blends—formerly a significant barrier to creating recycled raw materials for new garments. As the only platform currently able to separate polycotton textile waste and recover both cellulosic and synthetic fibres, Circ is paving the way for greater circularity in the fashion industry. However, scaling these technologies to accelerate circularity will require industry-wide collaboration and investment. Partnerships like the ongoing collaboration between Zara and Circ, which began with an investment from Zara’s parent company, Inditex, in 2023, represent significant progress toward making sustainable solutions scalable across the fashion industry.
“For us, success is when circularity is the default, with no compromise on quality or design,” said Peter Majeranowski, CEO of Circ. “Our latest collection with Zara builds on our goal of creating a model for widespread adoption of sustainable materials. This partnership also reinforces the long-term potential of Circ and Inditex to work together to improve product circularity for the fashion industry, while demonstrating Circ’s product quality.”
