Texfair 2024 To Kick Off On June 21 In Coimbatore
The Southern India Mills’ Association (SIMA) is set to host the 14th edition of Texfair, a prominent textile machinery fair, in Coimbatore from June 21 to 24.
Texfair will feature 240 exhibitors, including international participants, occupying 260 stalls. Exhibitors will showcase a wide array of textile machinery, spare parts, accessories, and innovative technologies. The event is anticipated to facilitate business transactions worth Rs 1,500 crore for the exhibitors.
Sundararaman emphasized that textile mills typically allocate 2.5% to 3% of their turnover annually towards spares, accessories, and modernization investments. Texfair aims to serve as a bridge between mills and suppliers, fostering partnerships and addressing industry needs.
Approximately 40% of the participants are from Tamil Nadu, with 30% to 40% representing the MSME sector. The fair is expected to benefit small-scale textile enterprises by helping them enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Sundararaman highlighted the cyclical nature of the textile industry, noting a recent downturn and expressing confidence in its recovery. He stressed the importance of efficiency improvements and cost reduction for sustained business viability.
Krishnakumar added that the Coimbatore region’s textile and clothing sector should focus on value addition, new product development, and branding to capitalize on emerging opportunities.
