Uzbekistan To Open Textile Trading Houses In US

Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has announced plans to open two textile trading houses in St. Louis and New York, a move aimed at strengthening the country’s presence in the US$ 100 billion US textile market.
The trading houses will serve as sales and promotional hubs for Uzbek ready-made garments and fashion products, directly linking the country’s manufacturers with American retailers, brands, and buyers.
The initiative is part of a broader strategy to modernize Uzbekistan’s textile sector, which has been under strain from falling cotton prices. Alongside expanding into the US, the government is also targeting the European market.
Industry support measures include increasing the number of Uzbek firms with international certifications to 300, showcasing products to global brands at a major textile exhibition in Tashkent this September, and integrating Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems across factories.
Officials say a key focus will be on deploying artificial intelligence to improve productivity, enhance transparency, and strengthen supply chain traceability, with subsidies offered for training workers in digital tools and automation.
