BCCCI Delegation Meets CEAB Leadership To Strengthen Bangladesh–China Trade Cooperation

A high-level delegation from the Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCCI), led by President Mohd Khorshed Alam and Secretary General Jamilur Rahman, paid a courtesy call on Han Kun, President of the Chinese Enterprises Association in Bangladesh (CEAB), on November 25, to discuss ways to deepen bilateral trade and investment cooperation.
The meeting focused on addressing existing challenges in Bangladesh–China trade relations and identifying practical mechanisms to enhance commercial engagement.
BCCCI President Mohd Khorshed Alam highlighted the critical role of Bangladesh’s textile industry in the national economy and urged greater Chinese participation through joint ventures, especially in the rehabilitation of sick or non-operational industrial units. He noted that revitalizing dormant facilities could deliver faster and more efficient commercial outcomes compared to establishing new factories. He also assured full BCCCI support to CEAB members, including assistance in expediting SB Clearance procedures within the legal framework.
CEAB President Han Kun outlined key areas for expanded collaboration, such as infrastructure development, government-to-government (G2G) initiatives, power and renewable energy projects, and increased trade in construction materials. He reaffirmed CEAB’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and stressed that a coordinated effort between both organizations would be instrumental in identifying bottlenecks, shaping policy recommendations, and resolving outstanding issues.
BCCCI Secretary General Jamilur Rahman proposed the creation of a joint working committee composed of representatives from both organizations. The committee would be tasked with formally identifying and addressing bilateral trade disputes, operational barriers, and other challenges faced by Bangladeshi and Chinese businesses.
AZM Azizur Rahman, Senior Vice President of BCCCI, emphasized the strategic importance of expanding Chinese investment in Bangladesh, noting that a substantial number of Chinese companies are already operating in the country’s Export Processing Zones (EPZs).
From the CEAB side, Lin Hai, Vice President and head of the ICT Branch, underscored the growing relevance of 5G, macro technologies, and smartphone innovation, urging stronger integration of technology in Bangladesh’s education sector. Mike Ge, President of the CEAB Textile and Garments Branch, discussed the current state of the textile and apparel sector and acknowledged the significant role Chinese enterprises play as buying houses and global supply chain partners.
The meeting was attended by BCCCI leaders including Vice Presidents Khandaker Atiqur Rahman and Mohammad Masud Ali Khan; Directors Mohammad Amanur Rahman, ATM Altaf Hossain Lotus, Md Kamruzzaman Ibne Amin, and Asif Haque Rupo; and Office Secretary Md Abu Taher.
CEAB representatives Tao Tao, Marketing Director of the Bangladesh Branch, Ma Rui, Vice President, and Zhou Meimei, Secretary, also joined the discussions, sharing their investment experiences and providing insights on matters raised during the meeting.
