Ministry Of Textiles Ends 2025 On Strong Note With Export Growth, Reforms And Infra Push

The Ministry of Textiles closed 2025 on a strong note, reporting significant progress across infrastructure creation, exports, farmer support, skilling and regulatory reforms, reinforcing India’s position as a global textile powerhouse.
Textile and apparel exports rose to US$ 37.8 billion in 2024–25, registering 5% growth and generating a robust trade surplus of US$ 28.2 billion. India retained its position as the 6th largest global exporter, with textiles contributing 8.63% of national exports, while the Vision 2030 target of US$ 100 billion exports remains firmly in focus.
The PM MITRA scheme emerged as a major highlight, with all seven mega textile parks witnessing tangible progress. Infrastructure works worth Rs 2,590 crore have commenced, 100% land acquisition has been completed, DPRs worth Rs 7,024 crore approved and the foundation stone for the Dhar park in Madhya Pradesh was laid by the Prime Minister. Investment MoUs exceeding Rs 27,400 crore signal strong industry confidence.
Under the PLI scheme for textiles, 74 companies committed investments of Rs 28,711 crore, with 30 firms commencing production and Rs 54 crore already disbursed as incentives—most notably in technical textiles, which account for nearly 57% of participants.
The cotton sector saw major farmer-centric reforms, with MSP procurement of 100 lakh bales, digital initiatives like the Kapas Kisan app, blockchain-based bale traceability, and the launch of Kasturi Cotton Bharat to boost global acceptance of Indian cotton.
Meanwhile, the SAMARTH skilling scheme trained 5.41 lakh persons, with 88% women participation, while sectors such as silk, wool, jute, handloom and handicrafts recorded gains through productivity growth, GI registrations, branding initiatives and welfare coverage.
Policy reforms remained a key focus in 2025. GST rationalisation, QCO relaxations, export incentive extensions and de-criminalisation of legacy textile laws under the Jan Vishwas framework significantly improved ease of doing business and cost competitiveness.
Capping the year, Bharat Tex 2025, India’s largest global textile event, brought together 5,000+ exhibitors, 1.2 lakh trade visitors from 120+ countries, showcasing India’s integrated “Farm to Fibre to Fashion” strength and ambition to triple exports by 2030.
Overall, 2025 marked a decisive year of execution for the Ministry of Textiles, combining infrastructure, reforms, sustainability and global outreach to build a future-ready, competitive textile ecosystem.
