Centre And Rajasthan Govt To Work Jointly To Develop Rajasthan As Textile Production And Export Hub

The Central and state government are working jointly to develop Rajasthan as a textile production and export hub, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas said on January 16.

He noted that the Rajasthan Textile and Apparel Policy 2025 has been implemented to drive investment, with garment manufacturing included for the first time. The policy spans natural and man-made fibre production, technical textiles, textile manufacturing, handloom, wool processing, leather products and footwear. It offers asset creation incentives of up to Rs 80 crore per year for 10 years, along with other financial support measures.

Chairing a meeting on “Textiles in Rajasthan” at the secretariat, Srinivas highlighted Bhilwara as a major textile hub, while textile products from Bhilwara, Balotra, Kota, Pali and Barmer are being promoted under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative.

Rajasthan currently has over 1,800 textile and apparel units, and textile exports rose to Rs 13,500 crore in 2024–25.

Textiles Secretary Neelam Shami Rao said Rajasthan has potential in new-age fibres, noting the presence of milkweed plants that can be used for innovative fibre applications. She said the Centre is working on initiatives related to new-age fibres and innovation in the sector.

Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Shikhar Agrawal, said the state is offering skill development, infrastructure support and financial assistance to strengthen artisans and industry, covering MSMEs as well as large units. He added that Rajasthan is promoting modern production technologies and working on a roadmap for sustainability and global competitiveness.
