Lenzing Group Debuts TENCEL Lyocell-HV100 In China

Lenzing Group has introduced its latest fibre innovation, TENCEL Lyocell – HV100, to the China market at the Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Spring Edition held from March 11–13, 2026, highlighting new possibilities for denim and woven apparel applications.

Originally developed for denim and first presented at the Kingpins Amsterdam in September 2025, the new fibre is now being expanded into broader woven categories such as bottom-weight fabrics and shirting. The launch in China marks an important step in Lenzing’s strategy to provide premium fibres that respond to growing global demand for more responsible textile materials.

The rollout of TENCEL Lyocell – HV100 is being supported through partnerships with Chinese textile mills, which are playing a key role in developing and scaling new applications. With initial traction in denim, development is now extending into additional woven apparel segments as manufacturers explore its performance and aesthetic potential.

According to Lenzing, the new fibre has been engineered to create fabrics with a look and feel closer to natural fibres while maintaining the softness associated with TENCEL fibres. Using Variocut technology, the fibre features controlled variations in staple length, producing subtle surface irregularities and a matte appearance that gives fabrics a more organic texture.

Consumer demand continues to support the brand’s growth. A global study by NielsenIQ indicates that among consumers familiar with the TENCEL brand, 85 percent express purchase intent for garments made with its fibres. In China, purchase intent rises to 92 per cent, where TENCEL has remained the most recognised fibre brand for five consecutive years.

Chinese textile manufacturers are playing a significant role in advancing the commercial development of the new fibre. Mills in the country serve both domestic and global markets and act as important research and production partners for international brands, helping scale innovations such as TENCEL Lyocell – HV100 from development to industrial production.

The fibre maintains the environmental credentials associated with the broader TENCEL lyocell portfolio. It is produced from responsibly sourced wood and manufactured using a closed-loop process that recovers more than 99.8 percent of the solvent used in production. The fibre also delivers significant reductions in carbon emissions and water consumption compared with generic lyocell fibres.

Lenzing said the introduction of TENCEL Lyocell – HV100 in China will support the development of higher-value textile products and strengthen collaboration across the global textile value chain as the industry continues to explore innovative and more responsible fibre solutions.
