Sanganer Textile Cluster To Expand CETP Network, 892 Units To Be Covered

Industrial wastewater management in Jaipur’s Sanganer textile cluster is set to expand, with nearly all member textile units expected to be connected to the Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) network following the completion of a key pumping station and pipeline project.
Of the 892 member textile units, 758 have already been connected to the CETP. The remaining units are proposed to be linked after the completion of a pumping station at Brahmanon Ki Guwar, which is targeted for completion in August.
The progress of the pumping station and pipeline project was recently reviewed by Anand Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Forest and Environment, and Vijay N, Secretary, Department of Environment and Climate Change (DoE&CC), according to an official of the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB).
The CETP expansion programme is being implemented by the RSPCB in coordination with the concerned agencies to bring eligible textile units under a common industrial wastewater treatment system.
The issue was reviewed during the third Raj Unnati meeting held on March 28, 2026, when Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma directed that the remaining textile units be connected to the CETP in a phased manner under a mission-mode approach. The project was reviewed again during the sixth Raj Unnati meeting on June 19, 2026, with directions for its early completion.
The pumping station and pipeline project is being executed by Sanganer Enviro Project Development (SEPD), a special purpose vehicle formed by the member industries.
Construction work had been delayed due to proceedings before the JDA Tribunal. The project resumed after the Jaipur Development Authority granted permission for the required land on June 21, with construction restarting on June 24, according to officials.
Once completed, the project will enable the remaining textile units to connect to the CETP network, allowing nearly all member industries in the Sanganer cluster to route their industrial effluent through a common treatment system before disposal.
At present, several textile units transport wastewater by tankers. However, officials have raised concerns that tanker-based disposal is inadequate given the large volumes of water used in textile processing, with some untreated wastewater reportedly reaching the river.
