Italian Textile Machinery Innovation Takes Spotlight At Techtextil 2026 In Frankfurt

The Italian textile machinery industry is set to showcase its technological strength at Techtextil 2026, scheduled from April 21–24 in Frankfurt, Germany. A strong contingent of Italian companies will participate in the global exhibition, presenting advanced solutions tailored to the rapidly evolving technical textiles sector.

Italy continues to hold a leading position in the global textile machinery market, supported by a highly specialised manufacturing ecosystem and a strong export orientation. Around 86% of the industry’s production is destined for international markets, with Italian machinery reaching over 130 countries worldwide. This global footprint underscores the sector’s reputation for quality, innovation, and reliability.

Germany remains a key market for Italian manufacturers, with sales reaching €81 million in the first eleven months of 2025. Among the most in-demand product segments are accessories, accounting for 36% of exports, followed by finishing machinery at 33%, reflecting the growing importance of advanced processing technologies in high-performance textile applications.

A defining strength of the Italian textile machinery industry lies in its dynamic structure, largely composed of small- and medium-sized enterprises with a strong focus on research and development. This enables close collaboration with customers and the delivery of highly customised, application-specific solutions.

Commenting on the industry’s outlook, Marco Salvadè, President of ACIMIT, said, “The growing demand for innovative textiles across various industrial fields is further consolidating our manufacturers’ position. At Techtextil 2026, the Italian offering will once again demonstrate how the combination of high technology and customization capabilities is the key to meeting the challenges of the technical textiles sector.”

Italy’s expertise is rooted in historic textile districts such as Bergamo, Biella, Brescia, Como, Milan, Prato, and Vicenza—clusters that continue to drive innovation and uphold the global reputation of “Made in Italy” textile technology.

A wide range of ACIMIT member companies will be present within the Italy Pavilion, alongside several others exhibiting independently or through local partners, collectively reinforcing Italy’s strong presence at one of the world’s leading platforms for technical textiles and advanced machinery.
