NITRA To Host National Conference On Innovations in Protective Textiles

The Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA), supported by the National Technical Textiles Mission under the Ministry of Textiles, will organise a National Conference on Innovations in Protective Textiles on April 9, 2026, at its campus in Ghaziabad.
The conference will bring together industry leaders, researchers, policymakers and professionals to deliberate on emerging trends and technological advancements in protective and technical textiles. The event aims to provide a focused platform for knowledge exchange, innovation showcase, and industry–academia collaboration in a rapidly evolving segment.
The programme will feature an inaugural session, plenary discussions, and technical sessions covering key areas such as fire-retardant textiles, high-performance fibres, sustainable protective materials, recycling and lifecycle analysis, defence textiles, smart and functional textiles and nanotechnology-based applications.
A special industry-focused address and plenary session will highlight future growth pathways in technical textiles, while dedicated technical sessions will explore innovations and sustainability-driven developments in protective textile solutions.
As part of the conference, NITRA will also host a poster presentation competition, encouraging participation from researchers, students, and industry professionals to showcase innovative ideas and research work aligned with the conference themes.
The event will also include an exhibition segment, offering companies an opportunity to present their latest products, technologies and services to key industry stakeholders.
The conference will be graced by Giriraj Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Textiles, Government of India, as Chief Guest, along with Rakesh Sachan as Guest of Honour.
With a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and advanced materials, the conference is expected to play a key role in advancing India’s capabilities in protective textiles and strengthening its position in the global technical textiles landscape.
