VDMA Textile Machinery Elects New Executive Board For 2026–2030
Dr Janpeter Horn, Managing Director of A. Herzog Maschinenfabrik, has been re-elected Chairman of VDMA Textile Machinery for the 2026–2030 term.
The election took place at the general meeting of the VDMA Textile Machinery Association in Hanover at the end of September. Regina Brückner, managing partner of Brückner Trockentechnik and Verena Thies, managing partner of Thies Textilmaschinen, were also re-elected as Deputy Chairs for the next four years.
Held one year ahead of ITMA 2027, the meeting focused on the changing competitive landscape facing European textile machinery manufacturers. Under the theme The world is moving forward – where is Europe?, discussions centred on increasing competition from Asia and challenging business conditions in Europe, which have contributed to significant declines in order intake and turnover in recent years.
VDMA Textile Machinery said its turnover forecast for 2026 has been revised downwards to -14% in nominal terms, while order intake appears to be stabilising.
“The discussions and workshops at our General Assembly clearly demonstrated that our industry is in the midst of profound change. The challenges are considerable, yet we possess the innovative strength, the expertise and the technological leadership to actively shape these changes,” said Dr Janpeter Horn.
“Together, we will work to support our customers even more effectively throughout the entire lifecycle of their machinery and equipment, to capitalise on the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence, and to strengthen the competitiveness of the European textile machinery industry in the long term,” he added.
Horn also highlighted ITMA 2027 in Hanover as an important milestone for the European textile machinery sector to demonstrate its technological capabilities internationally.
Dr Harald Weber, Managing Director of VDMA Textile Machinery, said the newly elected board brings extensive industry experience and technical expertise.
“I look forward to working with the newly elected Executive Board. The board’s wealth of experience, high level of technical expertise and broad positioning reflect the diversity and innovative strength of our sector,” Weber said.
He added that the association would work with the board to advance key issues affecting European textile machinery manufacturers and strengthen the industry’s competitiveness.
