Primark Rolls Out Circular Product Standard 2.0

Primark has launched its updated Circular Product Standard 2.0, strengthening its push towards scalable circular design across its product portfolio.

Building on three years of implementation and industry collaboration, the revised framework focuses on durability, use of recycled or sustainably sourced materials, and improved recyclability. The initiative aligns with the circular economy vision of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.

Circular design guidelines now cover nine key categories, including denim, jersey and knitwear. During FY2024-25, around 5% of Primark’s total clothing units were classified as circular by design, rising to 20% in jersey and 8% in denim.

The updated standard introduces a new ‘Progressive’ design level with higher requirements on materials, durability and recyclability, including the use of post-consumer recycled textiles. It also simplifies design processes to help teams integrate circularity into everyday product decisions.
